About the artist

Dominic Fike is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Naples, Florida. Fike first gained attention with his 2018 EP Don’t Forget About Me, Demos, which blended elements of pop, rock, and rap, showcasing his genre-fluid style. His music is characterised by its eclectic influences, heartfelt lyrics, and a raw, unpolished sound that has earned him a loyal following.

Fike's rise to fame has been rapid, bolstered by his unique sound, a starring role in HBO's Euphoria, and collaborations with big names in the music industry. Sunburn is his second studio album and a continuation of his exploration of personal and thematic narratives rooted in his Florida upbringing.

On the turntable

Sunburn, released in July 2023, is a deeply personal and sonically diverse album that sees Dominic Fike revisiting his roots in southern Florida. The album is a vivid portrayal of his adolescence, filled with high-energy tracks that blend genres like alternative rap, pop, and rock, while maintaining a cohesive narrative centred around his experiences growing up.

The album opens with the irreverent "How Much Is Weed?," a track that sets the tone with its raw lyrical content and energetic delivery. Throughout Sunburn, Fike navigates a range of emotions and stories, from youthful rebellion in "Ant Pile" to introspective moments in "4x4," where he contemplates his past decisions with a melancholic, almost folky vibe. The album's production, featuring contributions from Jim-E Stack and others, brings a polished yet authentic sound that complements Fike’s genre-blending style.

Despite its playful title, Sunburn is a complex record that delves into the conflicting emotions of love, loss, and the search for identity. It’s an album that reflects Fike’s growth as an artist, capturing the chaotic beauty of his upbringing in Florida and offering listeners a deeply immersive experience.
